About The Progressive Project!
The word "Progressive" to me means to make a positive change on something. This can be anything in the this world. That we can do more to this world than there already is. It can be a small change in your community to a start to a change in this world. In short, progressive to me means being willing to make a change in this world no matter how long or hard it is. The topic I chose was "Social Media Image." I chose this topic because I sometimes let social affect how I feel about myself. I start to believe I should be something else than what I am because of all the posts I see on social media. In addition, I want to make a change on this topic, I wanted to teach girls that not everything they see on social media is true and mainly to love themselves the way they are.
Project Process!
Human Centered Problem Statement!
In society, we have unrealistic expectations of what people are supposed to look like.
Immersion Experience Documentation!
For my Immersion Experience what I did was turn into a "Instagram Girl" for a day. There was more than to just take pictures and post them. What I had to do was write down how long it took me to get ready, take a picture, choose a picture to upload, choose a caption, to edit the picture. The whole point to doing this was to get a feel of how it is to be an Instagram girl.
Prototype!
For my prototype what my partner and I wanted to do was create a natural beauty Zine. First of all, what a zine is a magazine but a smaller version. What do I mean by natural? Many magazines have beautiful women on pages and whatnut but are they natural? Or do they edit the pictures? Such as photoshop the pictures. Are they wearing tons of makeup? Our goal with our zine is to inspire girls/women to be themselves and love themselves the way they are. We want to show a real natural beauty magazine with women who are confident without make up and without photoshop.

Test! Progressive Day!
For our progressive day we wanted to do a mini lesson and a workshop with young girls to prepare them and teach them young. We held a workshop with a group of sixth grade girls from High Tech Middle Media Arts.

What Would I Change In My Prototype?
From the feedback we got, what we would change is add more pictures to our zine, makes our paragraphs into smaller ones or bullet points to make it seem more like a zine, add about men not just women, and personal stories.

Self Reflection of the Progressive Challenge Project
The Progressive Project to me was a really good experience and I'm thankful I got a chance to do something like this. I've always wanted to do something good that would help others out but never had an exact idea of how to start or do anything. However, throughout this project the most challenging part of working around was making my zine. It was really challenging because no websites would work or it would crash and I had to start all over again. However, the way I overcame it was by talking to my teachers and she gave me a better website and it worked out so much better! On the other hand, what I appreciate about this project that I was able to do a workshop with young girls. I appreciate this because it made me gain so much knowledge on this topic and how other girls feel about themselves. I gained that everyone goes through some kind of body shame and it isn't only in high school like I thought because these girls had already been bullied and teased on because of their looks. In the study of progressivism I've learned that anything is possible and that any prototype you can make it will make a change at least to a person in this world. I got a better understanding of social media image by making a zine. I feel like my project impacted my user in a positive way because my zine was all about learning how to love yourself and we tried to give motivation. After testing it we got really good feedback and all they suggested was to add more things like pictures and personal stories so the change I would do to my zine is add more of what my users want. Overall, this project made me want to continue to do this in the future because I want to inspire others to believe in their selfs and to love themselves just the way you are. Everyone looks different on purpose because if everyone were to look the same it would be boring. Be you and be unique.
